What Is ACA Marketplace Insurance?
By Laurence Paolino, RN
The ACA Marketplace, also called the Health Insurance Marketplace, is where individuals and families can shop for health coverage.
Who it's for
Marketplace coverage is often used by people who are self-employed, between jobs, early retirees not yet eligible for Medicare, or anyone without access to affordable employer coverage.
Enrollment windows
Open Enrollment happens once a year. Outside of that window, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after certain life events, such as losing coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby.
